The beach-day plan

Doors open at 7 a.m. Eat first, then cross the Wrightsville Beach Drawbridge before the beach traffic stacks up. A cooked-to-order breakfast beats anything you'd assemble out of a cooler, and you'll be on the sand while the late sleepers are still circling for parking. We serve until 3 p.m., so the plan works in reverse too: beach first, late brunch after.

Lumina Station is set among gardens, and our covered patio sits right in them. It's shaded, it works in most weather, and dogs aren't just allowed out there, they're encouraged, with a cold water bowl on request. Inside, a bright dining room handles the full-sun days and the rainy ones alike.

Mornings here look like Wilmington: families starting the day, UNCW students slowing down, visitors eating before the beach, and regulars from Landfall and the Mayfaire area who've made it a habit. It's a local room that's easy to join.

What to order before the sand

The Blueberry Crème Brûlée French Toast is a favorite here, grilled challah with vanilla custard, and worth every photograph it collects. The Mediterranean Omelette and the Three-Way Kale hold down the fresher side of the table, the Crab Cake Benedict does what it does everywhere, and the coffee is 100% Colombian. If the beach can wait a little longer, the bar pours mimosas. Come make it the first stop of a good day. We're at Lumina Station every morning at 7, a few minutes from Wrightsville Beach.
